Matt Vickers - Product Strategy Consultant

Background & Philosophy

I'm a New Zealand-born entrepreneur and technologist with a passion for building products that solve real business problems. My career began in Wellington's design industry as a web developer, but I quickly discovered my talent for bridging the gap between technology and business strategy.

My journey through the fintech industry has given me unique insights into how products can transform entire industries. At Xero, I witnessed firsthand how thoughtful product strategy could democratize accounting for small businesses worldwide. At Ramp, I helped scale a fintech unicorn by focusing on user experience and operational excellence. and more recently at Rogo, I explored the frontier of AI-driven financial insights.

My approach to product strategy is grounded in three core principles: deep customer empathy, data-driven decision making, and relentless execution. I believe the best products are born from understanding not just what customers say they want, but what they actually need to succeed.

Beyond Business

Interests

When I'm not working on product strategy, I'm fascinated by the intersection of AI and neuroscience, particularly how advances in brain-computer interfaces might revolutionize productivity and decision-making.

I'm also passionate about personal finance and tax-efficient investing, always looking for ways technology can democratize sophisticated financial strategies for everyday investors.

Location & Lifestyle

Currently based in New York, I'm open to working with teams globally. I believe the best ideas come from diverse perspectives and cross-cultural collaboration.

I value intellectual stimulation and meaningful work over purely financial rewards.
